ADDITIONAL CHRISTMAS 2

Additional Christmas

From the Trad, to the Rad, the the A.D. - in the year of our Lord, Anno Domini
It’s a pray on words about the year of our Lord AND Adding to the joy of Christmas, God’s kingdom at Christmas.

Anointed Messiah

Anointed, Messiah, and Christ are basically all the same word. Though Messiah and Christ are more “The anointed one” in the English transliteration of the Hebrew and the Greek.
john 1:41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).

The Jews had and have huge expectations for the coming of the Messiah yet they missed it and still miss it. Romans 11:8 - they are enemies of gospel.
Interestingly, many of those who make accusations against the church or are in the throes of deconstruction make comments suggesting Jesus came as a Messiah who came for the purpose of what people expected Him to come for.

But we have in scripture what He came for: Isaiah 61 and Luke 4:16-21
16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, anointed to…..THERE IS PURPOSE for Jesus’ and our anointing

How do we become anointed?

This anointing is part of the overall eternal life gift package!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

God has got you on His Christmas gift list, but will we choose not only to receive the gift but even more, treasure the gift enough to learn how the gift functions and take hold of all its benefits?

How extensive is our gift list both in the sense of who we have on the list and what we have as part of our gift package. In other words, are we planning to make people aware of the gift of eternal life, and are we planning to offer to unction our anointing function and pray for people.
